Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman reflected on a challenging year following her divorce from musician Keith Urban, opening up about her personal life, career, and upcoming projects in an interview with Variety.
Months after officially filing for divorce in September 2025, the 58-year-old actress shared candid thoughts on how she is “doing all right” and gradually stepping back into the spotlight.
A Quiet Year of Reflection
Kidman, best known for her roles in Big Little Lies and Practical Magic, told Variety that 2025 was a quieter year for her. When the outlet suggested that “every year is probably the year of Nicole Kidman,” she replied,
“Well, not last year. I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell.”
Asked if she is ready to emerge from that shell, Kidman responded with optimism:
“Now I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026. Here we go.’ I have Practical Magic with [Sandra Bullock]. I’ll be in full witch mode.”
Family First
The actress also highlighted the importance of her family, saying she is grateful for maintaining close bonds with her children. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that,” she explained.
Kidman emphasized her desire to protect her privacy and focus on her two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, noting:
“Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
Looking Ahead
Following the end of her nearly two-decade marriage with Urban, Kidman is preparing for a busy 2026, including the highly anticipated return of Practical Magic, in which she reunites with Sandra Bullock.
The actress concluded the interview on a hopeful note, emphasizing that she is moving toward positivity and embracing new opportunities in both her professional and personal life.
