With petrol prices continuing to fluctuate in Pakistan, many consumers are turning their attention toward affordable electric vehicles (EVs).
Micro electric cars are becoming increasingly popular among urban commuters who want a budget-friendly and environmentally friendly alternative to petrol-powered vehicles.
Two models currently attracting attention in Pakistan’s entry-level EV segment are the Nora EV and the Alektra Metro EV.
Both vehicles target buyers looking for the cheapest electric mobility options, but they differ in price, features, performance, and practicality.
Let’s take a closer look at how these two small electric cars compare across key categories.
Price Comparison
Price is the biggest factor for most buyers in Pakistan’s micro-EV segment.
The Alektra Metro EV currently holds the title of one of the cheapest electric cars available in the country. Its price ranges between Rs 10.95 lakh and Rs 13.95 lakh, making it extremely accessible for entry-level buyers.
On the other hand, the Nora EV is priced slightly higher but still falls within the affordable EV category. The newly revealed price of the Nora EV ranges between Rs 18.89 lakh and Rs 22.99 lakh, depending on the variant.
While Alektra clearly wins the price battle, Nora offers a larger body and more powerful performance in return for the higher cost.
Design and Dimensions
When it comes to size and road presence, the Nora EV has the advantage.
The Alektra Metro EV has compact dimensions of 2450 × 1250 × 1650 mm with a wheelbase of 1850 mm. Its small footprint makes it ideal for congested city roads and tight parking spaces.
In comparison, the Nora EV Eco X is noticeably larger with dimensions of 2900 × 1450 × 1600 mm and a wheelbase of 1900 mm. The extra length and width provide better cabin space and a slightly more substantial road presence.
Both cars offer seating for four passengers, making them suitable for short urban trips.
Performance and Battery
Performance is another area where the two vehicles differ.
The Alektra Metro EV is powered by a 2.68 hp electric motor paired with a 12.96 kWh battery. It offers a driving range of around 180 km on a single charge and requires 5–7 hours for a full charge.
Meanwhile, the Nora EV Eco X features a slightly stronger 4.7 hp motor but comes with a smaller 9.36 kWh battery. It delivers a range of around 160 km and requires 6–8 hours for charging.
This means Alektra provides better range, while Nora delivers stronger performance.
Wheels and Top Speed
The Nora EV also has an advantage in terms of speed and wheel size.
The Alektra Metro EV comes with 10-inch alloy wheels and a top speed of 50 km/h, which is sufficient for short city commutes.
In comparison, the Nora EV is equipped with 12-inch alloy wheels and offers a higher top speed of 65 km/h, making it slightly more capable on wider city roads.
Which EV Should You Choose?
Both vehicles cater to different types of buyers in Pakistan’s growing electric vehicle market.
If you want the cheapest electric car with longer range for daily commuting, the Alektra Metro EV stands out as the more economical option.
However, if you prefer a larger micro-EV with better power, higher speed, and more road presence, the Nora EV may justify its higher price.
As Pakistan’s EV market continues to expand, affordable options like these could play a key role in accelerating the country’s transition toward cleaner transportation.
