Nothing Phone 4a Series Launches With Upgraded Cameras, Display

Nothing Phone (3)

Nothing has officially introduced the new Nothing Phone (4a) and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, bringing notable upgrades in design, performance, and display technology. The new lineup continues the company’s signature transparent-inspired design while refining the concept introduced in the previous (3a) series.

Unlike last year’s models, which were mainly differentiated by their camera systems, the Phone (4a) Pro now offers broader improvements including a larger display, faster processor, enhanced build quality, and an upgraded Glyph lighting interface. The Pro model also adopts a metal unibody design, replacing the plastic frame used in the previous generation. Despite the metal construction, the device remains slim at 7.95mm while maintaining the same weight as its predecessor.

The Phone (4a) Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, delivering a reported 27% increase in CPU performance, 30% improvement in graphics, and 65% better AI processing compared to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 used in the previous models. It comes with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, offering significantly faster read speeds than the earlier UFS 2.2 standard.

One of the biggest highlights is the 6.83-inch OLED display on the Pro variant, featuring a 144Hz refresh rate, 1,260 x 2,800 resolution, and peak brightness of 5,000 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and supports high-frequency 2,160Hz PWM dimming for improved eye comfort.

On the camera front, the Pro model features a 50MP Sony Lytia 700C main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The device supports 4K 30fps Ultra XDR video recording, which Nothing says offers a dynamic range similar to Dolby Vision.

The standard Nothing Phone (4a) retains many of the same camera components but uses a Samsung GN9 50MP main sensor. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor with LPDDR4X RAM, offering modest performance improvements over last year’s model.

Both devices feature 5,080mAh batteries with 50W wired charging, along with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16. The company promises three Android updates and six years of security patches.

Pre-orders for the Phone (4a) start March 5, with sales beginning March 13, while the Phone (4a) Pro will open pre-orders on March 13 and go on sale March 27.
