Nvidia RTX 5080 24GB may launch at CES 2027 with $1,500 price tag

The rumoured graphics card could be announced in January, but limited availability may delay its actual market launch.

Nvidia is reportedly preparing to introduce a new GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card with 24GB of video memory (VRAM) at CES 2027 in January. However, uncertainty surrounding its production and availability has raised questions about whether the company will release the GPU immediately.

According to hardware leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead (MLID), Nvidia plans to announce the RTX 5080 24GB at the annual technology event. The rumoured graphics card could potentially replace the existing RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 models, which have reportedly become difficult to find.

However, recent reports indicate that Nvidia’s add-in-board (AIB) partners have not yet received the design documents required to manufacture the 24GB version. This has cast doubt on whether the new graphics card will be ready for a full launch at CES.

Based on MLID’s information and reports from Chinese board channels, Nvidia could announce the RTX 5080 24GB in January without making it immediately available for purchase.

Such a release would effectively amount to a paper launch, where a product is officially announced but consumers cannot readily find it in retail stores.

Pricing is another major question surrounding the rumoured GPU. MLID estimates that Nvidia could set its official recommended retail price (MSRP) at around $1,500, placing it close to the original MSRP of the RTX 5090.

However, limited availability could push actual retail prices considerably higher. If supply remains restricted, buyers may have to pay significantly more than the expected $1,500 price.

The possible launch also comes amid concerns about the availability of GeForce graphics cards. Reports suggest that Nvidia GPUs have become increasingly difficult to purchase, with AMD reportedly outselling Nvidia on Amazon US for the first time in the do-it-yourself (DIY) PC market.

It remains uncertain whether introducing another GeForce model will improve the situation for PC builders. A new graphics card could attract demand, but limited production and higher retail prices may restrict its impact.

For now, the RTX 5080 24GB specifications, pricing and launch availability remain unconfirmed. Nvidia has yet to officially announce the graphics card, and further details are expected ahead of CES 2027.
