ISLAMABAD, March 26, 2026 – Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has announced a significant natural gas discovery at its Sahito-1 exploratory well, located within the Khewari Exploration License in Khairpur district, Sindh.

Wireline log interpretations and Drill Stem Testing (DST) of the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand) revealed a strong gas flow of 17.2 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). The well recorded a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 3,390 psi at a choke size of 32/64 inches, demonstrating high reservoir potential.

OGDCL holds a 95% working interest in the Sahito-1 well, while Government Holdings Private Limited owns the remaining 5% carried interest. Spudded on December 24, 2025, the exploratory well was drilled to a total depth of 3,870 meters in the Sembar Formation using OGDC’s in-house technical expertise.

This discovery represents a major milestone in OGDC’s exploration program, underlining the company’s commitment to developing Pakistan’s indigenous energy resources. Analysts expect the new gas find to help bridge the country’s energy demand-supply gap while strengthening hydrocarbon reserves for both joint venture partners and the nation.

The Sahito-1 gas discovery further positions OGDC as a key player in Pakistan’s energy sector, contributing to long-term energy security and supporting sustainable growth in domestic gas production.
