OGDCL Announces Production Optimization of Naspha-4 Well

Karachi, July 1, 2024 – The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced on Monday the successful revitalization of the Naspha-4 well. This achievement underscores the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance its production capabilities and optimize resource extraction.

In a communication with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL stated that the Naspha-4 well was re-evaluated for the potential of the upper zone of the Lockhart formation. This re-evaluation has led to a significant increase in production, yielding an additional 330 barrels per day (BBL/day) of oil and 7.7 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/day) of gas at a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 1570 PSI.

Furthermore, OGDCL reported that 21 metric tons per day (MT/day) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is being recovered from the well. “The gas is now injected into the SNGPL network,” OGDCL added, indicating that the increased gas production is being efficiently integrated into the national gas supply system.

The Naspha-4 well is situated within the Naspha Development and Production Lease (D&PL) in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The Naspha D&PL operates under a joint venture, with OGDCL serving as the operator and holding a 54.45% stake. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has a 28.55% share, while Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) holds a 15% share.

The successful optimization of the Naspha-4 well is expected to bolster the energy supply in the region and contribute positively to the country’s energy sector. This development also highlights the collaborative efforts of the joint venture partners in enhancing production capabilities and ensuring the efficient utilization of resources.

The revitalization of Naspha-4 is a testament to OGDCL’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies to maximize production and meet the growing energy demands of Pakistan. As the country continues to strive for energy self-sufficiency, such initiatives by OGDCL and its partners play a crucial role in achieving these goals.
