Karachi, April 1, 2026 – Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the commencement of oil and gas production from the Spinwarm-1 discovery in Waziristan, marking a significant development in Pakistan’s energy sector.

In a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL confirmed that production of gas and condensate has started under the Extended Well Testing (EWT) phase at the Waziristan Block, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The well has been successfully completed in the Lockhart reservoir.

According to initial production estimates, Spinwarm-1 is currently producing around 40 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas along with approximately 200 barrels per day (BBL/D) of condensate. This early production milestone is expected to strengthen domestic energy supplies and reduce reliance on imports.

With the addition of output from Spinwarm-1, the early production facilities at Shewa will now operate at full capacity. Combined production from Shewa and Spinwarm wells is projected to reach approximately 100 MMscfd of gas and 800 BBL/D of condensate, significantly boosting the region’s hydrocarbon output.

The Waziristan Block is being developed through a joint venture led by Mari Energies Limited as the operator with a 55% working interest. OGDCL holds a 35% stake, while Orient Petroleum Inc. owns the remaining 10%.

The announcement was made in compliance with regulatory requirements under the Securities Act, 2015, and relevant PSX disclosure rules, ensuring transparency for investors and stakeholders.
