Karachi, November 14, 2025 – The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced on Friday that it has officially started oil production from its newly developed Pasakhi-14 well in Hyderabad, marking a significant addition to Pakistan’s domestic energy output.
In a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL confirmed that the Pasakhi-14 well has begun producing 1,100 barrels of oil per day (BPD). The well falls under the Pasakhi & Pasakhi North Development and Production Lease (D&PL), where OGDCL maintains a 100% working interest, strengthening its role as the country’s leading upstream player.
According to the company, the well was drilled to a total depth of 2,183 meters, targeting the promising hydrocarbon zones within the upper sands of the Lower Goru formation. OGDCL highlighted that the project was executed using in-house technical expertise across delineation, drilling, and testing phases.
The Pasakhi-14 well also showcases OGDCL’s adoption of cutting-edge technologies. The drilling process employed a Rotary Steerable System (RSS), Electromagnetic Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and a Nitrified Mud System, which was used for the first time by the company. These advancements enabled enhanced directional accuracy, improved formation integrity, and overall superior well performance. The installation of state-of-the-art Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) technology further ensures consistent production efficiency.
OGDCL stated that the new production aligns with its strategic focus on maximizing exploration success, improving drilling efficiency, and boosting national energy security through sustainable resource development.
The company submitted the announcement in compliance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Clause 5.6.1(a) of PSX Regulations, ensuring timely disclosure to market participants.
