Karachi, December 26, 2024 – Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced on Thursday the successful revival and significant enhancement of oil production from the Pasakhi-5 Well, situated in District Hyderabad, Sindh. This development marks another milestone in OGDCL’s efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s energy sector.
In an official communication with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL stated that the Pasakhi-5 Well is part of the Pasakhi Development and Production Lease (D&PL), where OGDCL holds a 100% working interest. This exclusive ownership enables OGDCL to implement advanced recovery strategies and technologies effectively.
As part of its strategic optimization initiative, OGDCL deployed a rig to install an artificial lift system, specifically an Electric Submersible Pump (ESP). Prior to the installation, the Pasakhi-5 Well was producing 480 barrels of oil per day (BPD) through natural flow. Following the introduction of the ESP, production has surged to 900 BPD, representing a substantial increase of 420 BPD.
This achievement highlights OGDCL’s dedication to leveraging innovative technologies and operational efficiencies to maximize energy output. By enhancing the productivity of existing wells like Pasakhi-5, OGDCL is ensuring a sustainable and reliable energy supply to meet Pakistan’s growing energy demands.
OGDCL’s management emphasized that this accomplishment is not only a testament to the company’s technical expertise but also aligns with its broader goal of contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth. By boosting domestic oil production, OGDCL aims to reduce the country’s reliance on imported energy, fostering greater self-sufficiency in the energy sector.
Furthermore, OGDCL’s commitment to innovation and sustainability underscores its pivotal role as a leader in Pakistan’s oil and gas industry. The success at Pasakhi-5 is expected to serve as a blueprint for future enhancements across other wells under OGDCL’s management.
With this milestone, OGDCL reaffirms its position as a cornerstone of the nation’s energy infrastructure, contributing to a more secure and prosperous energy future for Pakistan.
