Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Thursday warned of strict action against individuals or businesses involved in the illegal hoarding of petroleum products, particularly at locations that are not authorised storage facilities.

In an official statement, the regulator said any premises found storing petroleum products illegally—outside licensed oil depots or approved retail outlets operated by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs)—would face immediate enforcement action.

“Any premises found involved in the illegal storage of petroleum products will be sealed,” an OGRA spokesperson said.

The regulator also reassured the public that Pakistan currently holds sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel to meet national demand, urging consumers to avoid panic buying or unnecessary stockpiling.

According to OGRA, authorities are closely monitoring the country’s petroleum supply chain in light of the evolving geopolitical situation to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability nationwide.

“The existing stock position remains comfortable and well within the prescribed requirements,” the statement said.

The regulator further noted that some elements may attempt to hoard petroleum products in order to profit from artificial shortages. To counter such practices, provincial chief secretaries have been requested to instruct deputy commissioners to conduct inspections across their jurisdictions.

OGRA teams are also actively monitoring the situation on the ground. Inspections are being carried out at oil depots and fuel stations to ensure smooth supply and prevent any malpractice in the distribution of petroleum products.

The authority advised the public to ignore rumours and maintain normal fuel consumption, reiterating that the petroleum supply situation in the country remains stable.
