Karachi, July 24, 2025 – The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) has released its Annual Security Survey 2025, revealing a marked improvement in Pakistan’s overall security environment, particularly in major commercial cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
Covering the period from June 2024 to May 2025, the survey reflects the experiences and perceptions of leading foreign investors operating across the country.
According to the OICCI survey, over 70 percent of respondents observed a noticeable decline in serious crimes across Karachi, Lahore, and wider Punjab. In addition, a significant drop in street crime was recorded in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. The survey also noted that nearly two-thirds of the companies reported improved perceptions of personal safety among their employees, especially during daily commutes.
However, the survey also highlighted continuing security concerns in sensitive areas. While cities like Quetta and Peshawar showed moderate declines in street crime, they remain perceived as among the least secure. Alarmingly, the situation in Balochistan deteriorated, with serious crimes reportedly increasing, contrasting with the positive trend in other provinces.
Despite improvements, security remains one of the top three concerns for business leaders in Pakistan. Chief Executives continue to urge for broader and more consistent enhancements in the security climate across all regions to ensure long-term investor confidence.
Commenting on the results, OICCI Secretary General M. Abdul Aleem noted, “The OICCI survey presents a cautiously optimistic view. While we are encouraged by progress in major urban centers, efforts must be made to extend these gains to all parts of the country to strengthen Pakistan’s global business image.”
Encouragingly, the volume of overseas business travel to Pakistan remained stable compared to 2024, with a decline in meetings held abroad—an indicator of increased confidence in Pakistan’s internal security.
The OICCI reaffirmed its commitment to working with government and law enforcement agencies to build a safer, more enabling business environment throughout Pakistan.
