Karachi, September 14, 2024 – The Oil Marketing Association of Pakistan, under the leadership of Senior Vice Chairman Tariq Mehmood, met with Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Saturday to discuss the expansion and development of the fuel oil industry in Balochistan.
The discussions centered around increasing the number of licensed fuel stations across the province to ensure quality fuel products and improved services for the local population, according to a press release.
Expanding Licensed Fuel Stations in Balochistan
Tariq Mehmood emphasized the importance of a phased rollout of licensed fuel stations across Balochistan, highlighting how this strategy would not only improve fuel quality but also enhance the consumer experience. “The gradual establishment of regulated fuel stations will ensure the provision of high-quality products and better services, benefiting both consumers and businesses,” he stated during the meeting.
He further stressed the need for increased facilitation for the local population through the development of these regulated stations, pointing out that such initiatives could elevate the standard of fuel services and provide much-needed economic stimulus to the province.
Federal Support and Economic Impact
Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan echoed Tariq Mehmood’s sentiments, suggesting that every oil company operating in Balochistan should establish at least two to three licensed fuel stations in each district. He underscored the positive impact this would have on local business activities and job creation, noting, “These initiatives will not only strengthen Balochistan’s economic growth but also create employment opportunities for the local population.”
To further bolster support for the initiative, Jam Kamal Khan reached out to Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, during the meeting. Chief Minister Bugti expressed his appreciation for the proposed plans and assured full backing from the provincial government, stating that Balochistan would welcome such development initiatives that foster regional growth.
The federal minister also reaffirmed the federal government’s full support for the Oil Marketing Association’s plans, noting that the transition to licensed fuel stations would benefit both consumers and sellers. He emphasized that quality control and a competitive business environment are essential for driving sustainable growth in the fuel industry.
“We should gradually move towards a framework of licensed fuel stations, which would create a win-win situation for all involved. This would not only ensure consumers receive high-quality products but also provide business opportunities for fuel station owners,” Jam Kamal remarked.
Future of the Fuel Industry in Balochistan
The federal minister expressed optimism about the future of Balochistan’s fuel oil industry, highlighting its potential to drive regional economic development. He noted that licensed fuel stations would enhance consumer trust in fuel quality and improve the overall business environment for oil marketing companies. Jam Kamal emphasized that fostering a regulated fuel market could become a cornerstone of Balochistan’s economic strategy.
In closing, the federal minister assured the Oil Marketing Association of his availability and full support for any initiatives aimed at increasing business volumes and contributing to the country’s broader economic development.
With the combined efforts of federal and provincial governments, the fuel industry in Balochistan appears poised for significant growth, offering new opportunities for business owners, improved services for consumers, and a stronger local economy.
