The pop star says she would love to experience classroom learning after missing out on university life as her music career took off during her teens.

Olivia Rodrigo hopes to return to education one day, revealing that she would love to experience university life and learn in a traditional classroom setting.

The Drivers License singer, now 23, rose to international fame shortly before turning 18, leaving her with little opportunity to experience some milestones enjoyed by her peers, including attending university.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Rodrigo said she wanted to challenge the idea that higher education must begin at a particular age.

“I’d love to go back to school. I feel like that’s kind of a misconception that people have, that you have to go when you’re like 19 years old,” she said.

The Traitor hitmaker added that learning in a classroom would be an exciting experience, explaining that she would enjoy sitting through lectures and exploring subjects in an academic environment.

Rodrigo was homeschooled for much of her high school education, making the prospect of conventional classroom learning particularly appealing.

She has already had a taste of university life. In 2022, the singer took a poetry class at the University of Southern California. The experience helped inspire Lacy, a track featured on her second studio album, GUTS.

However, Rodrigo has yet to decide whether she would pursue a full degree or enrol in shorter courses.

Reflecting on how her life might have unfolded without the success of Drivers License, the Good 4 U singer said she believed she would probably have attended college and pursued some form of non-profit work.

Her comments highlight her continuing interest in education despite the demands of a successful music career.
