The electric vehicle (EV) market in Pakistan is witnessing rapid growth, with automakers introducing advanced models to cater to the rising demand for sustainable mobility.
Among the latest entrants is the Omoda E5, launched through a collaboration between Chery and Nishat Group. Positioned as a premium all-electric SUV, the Omoda E5 blends stylish design, high performance, and cutting-edge features.
However, it faces stiff competition from the SERES 3 EV, a more affordable alternative that also offers impressive specifications.
Price Comparison
The Omoda E5 FWD carries a price tag of Rs 8,999,000, reflecting its premium positioning. In contrast, the SERES 3 is priced at Rs 8,390,000, making it a slightly more budget-friendly choice for EV buyers in Pakistan.
Performance & Range
The Omoda E5 EV is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) producing 150 kW (204 hp) and 340 Nm torque. It comes with three driving modes — Eco, Normal, and Sport — to suit different driving needs. Backed by a 61 kWh battery, it delivers a WLTP range of 430 km (up to 505 km under NEDC standards) on a single charge.
The SERES 3 EV features a 49.34 kWh PMSM Lithium-Ion Battery, generating 160.9 hp and 300 Nm torque. It offers a 403 km range (NEDC) and supports fast charging from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, while standard charging takes around 6 hours.
Safety Features
The Omoda E5 is equipped with a robust safety suite, including ABS, EBD, ESP, BAS, MCB, and emergency stop signal. It offers six airbags, a 360° camera, parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-theft protection, and passive entry/start technology, ensuring top-class passenger safety.
The SERES 3 also prioritizes safety with six airbags, ESP/ESC, Lane Departure Warning (LDWS), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW).
Additional features include ABS+EBD, Hill Start Assist (HAC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and an Event Data Recorder (EDR).
Verdict
Both SUVs cater to Pakistan’s growing appetite for eco-friendly transportation. The Omoda E5 stands out with its extended driving range, advanced tech, and luxurious feel, while the SERES 3 offers a more affordable entry point into the EV segment without compromising on performance and safety.
The final choice for buyers will depend on whether they prioritize range and premium features or value and cost-efficiency.
