OnePlus has officially announced OxygenOS 16, its next major software update based on Android 16.

The latest version focuses on advanced AI integration, smoother performance, improved connectivity, and greater customization options for users.

OxygenOS 16 builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, introducing enhanced AI-powered features and several new tools. The popular Mind Space app now includes Google Gemini integration, allowing users to search for content, generate itineraries, and more. It also adds voice note support and smart collections for better organization.

A major new addition is AI Writer, which can create, proofread, and edit text in nearly any app based on prompts. The AI Recorder can automatically transcribe sessions, identify speakers, and provide searchable transcripts. Meanwhile, the Gallery app receives AI tools that can adjust facial lighting, fix expressions, and even open closed eyes using previous photos for reference.

Beyond AI, OnePlus has made significant improvements to the user interface. The Parallel Processing feature now extends to more areas, ensuring a smoother and more responsive experience. The lock screen gains new customization options, including additional clock styles, widgets, and support for live photos and videos. The home screen now allows adjustable icon sizes and smart shortcuts for quick access to apps and functions.

OxygenOS 16 also enhances cross-device connectivity. Users can now seamlessly share data between OnePlus phones and tablets, and even access files from a Mac or PC. Additionally, OnePlus devices now support Apple Watch notifications, messages, and calls, offering greater versatility for users within mixed ecosystems.

Tablet users can expect upgraded multitasking features, along with the same lock screen and home screen customization found on smartphones.

The OxygenOS 16 Beta program is now open for users who wish to experience the update early, while the stable release will be rolled out soon to supported OnePlus devices.
