The partnership will allow enterprise customers to access OpenAI’s latest models through Google Cloud Marketplace and use existing cloud spending commitments to pay for them.
OpenAI has announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to make its flagship artificial intelligence models and Codex agentic workflows available through Google Cloud’s Model Garden and Marketplace.
The agreement will enable enterprise customers to access OpenAI models, including GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, through Google Cloud. Customers will also be able to use existing cloud spending commitments and benefit from unified invoicing.
According to a company blog post, the partnership aims to expand OpenAI’s reach among corporate customers by making its AI products more accessible through established cloud purchasing arrangements.
The move also strengthens Google Cloud’s AI offering, giving businesses access to OpenAI’s models alongside enterprise security, identity auditing and virtual private cloud controls.
Google has become the latest major cloud provider to distribute OpenAI models, following the expansion of the company’s distribution network beyond Microsoft. OpenAI has also extended access through Amazon Web Services as it seeks to reach more enterprise customers.
The partnership highlights the increasingly complex relationship between OpenAI and Google. Although the companies compete in artificial intelligence products and search, they are also finding opportunities to collaborate as the costs of developing and deploying large language models continue to rise.
For businesses, the agreement could simplify procurement by allowing them to obtain OpenAI’s AI capabilities through existing Google Cloud arrangements rather than establishing separate purchasing processes.
The deal marks another step in the competition among major cloud providers to attract enterprise customers seeking advanced AI tools and integrated cloud services.
