Oppo is set to follow Apple’s lead by bringing back a dedicated camera button in its upcoming Find X8 series.
The physical key, placed on the side of the device, will enhance the photo-taking experience with a Quick Capture solution, as detailed in a recent demo video.
The new feature allows users to double-tap the button to instantly launch the camera app. A long press will capture a photo, while swiping the button sideways will zoom the camera, offering a smoother experience than traditional volume key zooming.
This innovation aims to make photography more intuitive, particularly in challenging conditions where the screen may not respond well to touch.
One of the key reasons behind this new feature is the difficulty users face when trying to tap the screen to take photos in certain situations, such as underwater.

In that model, double-tapping the volume button activates the camera, and the same button can be used for zooming. However, the zoom function in the Find X7 Ultra isn’t as smooth as the swipe action planned for the Find X8 series.
