  • Hailstorm Delays Islamabad United vs Multan Sultans PSL Clash

Hailstorm Delays Islamabad United vs Multan Sultans PSL Clash

Rawalpindi, April 16, 2025 – A sudden hailstorm in Rawalpindi caused a significant delay in the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 match between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans, originally scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The hailstorm, accompanied by overnight rain, left the outfield drenched and unfit for immediate play. Officials confirmed that Islamabad experienced heavy rain a few hours prior to the match as well, adding to the wet conditions on the ground. The toss was officially delayed, though with the skies now clear and no rain in sight, fans remain hopeful that play will commence soon.

The Rawalpindi pitch has delivered high-scoring encounters throughout the season, with several 200-plus totals already posted. However, it has proved difficult for teams chasing big targets, putting added pressure on the side batting second.

Multan Sultans, despite boasting a powerful lineup, have had a shaky start to the tournament. In their opening game, they piled up a colossal 234 runs against Karachi Kings but still ended on the losing side. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan struck a brilliant century and was well-supported by Michael Bracewell. However, Multan’s bowling attack faltered in the face of James Vince’s explosive counterattack. Only Akif Javed managed to impress with the ball. Heading into this match, Multan will need a more cohesive bowling effort to challenge a confident Islamabad side.

Meanwhile, Islamabad United have looked like a well-oiled machine, securing convincing wins against both Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi. Currently leading the points table, Islamabad appear determined to defend their title. Sahibzada Farhan’s stunning century in the previous match set the tone, while contributions from Colin Munro and Salman Agha have strengthened their batting depth. With the ball, Jason Holder and captain Shadab Khan have been exceptional.

As fans in Islamabad and Multan await updates, all eyes are on the ground staff to make the field playable. With stakes high, both teams are eager to resume action and gain vital points in their PSL campaigns.
