PAK vs BAN: Pakistan gear up for T20I series against Bangladesh

Bangladesh Cricket

Lahore, 27 May 2025 — Cricket fans are in for an electrifying contest as Pakistan gets ready to host Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series starting Wednesday, 28 May at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium.

This marks the first T20I series at the venue since its major renovation earlier this year, promising world-class facilities and high-intensity cricket action.

The series will follow a compact schedule, with the second T20I taking place on Friday, 30 May, and the third and final match on Sunday, 1 June. All matches will commence at 8 PM, with the toss set for 7:30 PM local time. The Pakistan team, led by Salman Ali Agha, will lock horns with Bangladesh, captained by Litton Das. Both teams had their initial training under lights on Monday and will hold another session Tuesday evening to finalize preparations.

Historically, Pakistan holds a strong record over Bangladesh in T20Is, especially on home soil. In four previous T20I encounters held in Pakistan, the hosts have won three while one was washed out. Out of five bilateral T20I series overall, Pakistan has triumphed in four, with Bangladesh’s sole success coming back in 2015.

This series also marks the beginning of a new era for Pakistan cricket with the recent appointment of Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach. Salman Ali Agha, who has already led the team in nine T20I matches, continues as captain. Speaking before the series, he emphasized the team’s readiness and confidence:

“We’ve had excellent sessions, and most players are coming off solid performances in the HBL PSL X. We respect Bangladesh as a competitive side, and we look forward to delivering strong performances for our fans,” said Salman.

Bangladesh skipper Litton Das highlighted the importance of this tour, stating:

“This series is an ideal platform as we shape our squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Facing Pakistan in their backyard will be a tough test, but one we welcome.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a five-member commentary team for the series, featuring renowned voices from Pakistan and Bangladesh, including Aamir Sohail, Ramiz Raja, Bazid Khan, Athar Ali Khan, and Mike Haysman, with Zainab Abbas as presenter.

Broadcast partners will ensure live coverage of all matches across the globe. In Pakistan, A Sports and Ten Sports will air the games, while digital streaming will be available via Tamasha and Tapmad. In Bangladesh, fans can tune in via TSports and Tapmad.

Tickets, priced as low as PKR 200, are now on sale at TCS Express Centres to encourage maximum turnout.
