Islamabad – Pakistan has ramped up refinery operations to maintain optimal throughput and ensure uninterrupted fuel supply as global energy markets remain volatile due to tensions involving Iran.
The development was shared during a high-level meeting of the Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices, chaired by Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue. The meeting reviewed the country’s petroleum supply situation and assessed global oil and gas market trends amid evolving geopolitical conditions.
Officials informed the committee that local refineries are operating at regular production levels, with efforts focused on maximizing throughput and efficiently processing incoming crude oil. The government emphasized the importance of sustaining refinery performance to meet rising domestic demand and reduce vulnerabilities in the energy supply chain.
A comprehensive review of national petroleum stocks revealed that inventories remain at comfortable levels, supported by secured import arrangements and steady production. Supply chains—from import terminals to refineries, storage facilities, and retail outlets—are functioning smoothly, ensuring uninterrupted availability of fuel across the country.
The committee was also briefed on inbound logistics and maritime operations, noting that oil cargo inflows are proceeding as scheduled. Petroleum shipments for March have been secured, with April consignments largely arranged and additional cargoes planned to further strengthen supply buffers.
Members discussed international price movements and their potential impact on domestic markets, highlighting the need for timely policy adjustments. The government is actively evaluating global price signals to ensure balanced pricing strategies.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing government-to-government engagements aimed at diversifying sourcing and enhancing supply resilience. These efforts include securing crude and refined products from multiple partners, improving storage capacity, and strengthening logistics.
Officials reiterated that ensuring stable fuel supply remains a top priority, with continued monitoring of global developments and coordinated action across all relevant sectors.
