Islamabad, November 8, 2025 – Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry announced on Friday that direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh are set to resume shortly.
Speaking during the National Assembly’s Question Hour, the minister said both countries are working to restore air connectivity to promote trade, tourism, and medical travel.
Dr. Tariq revealed that Bangladesh has granted permissions to Pakistani carriers Fly Jinnah and Air Sial to operate direct flights between the two nations. He emphasized the strong and friendly bilateral ties, noting that frequent communication and leadership-level interactions have strengthened relations in recent years.
Highlighting economic cooperation, the minister said a Joint Working Group on Trade has been established to boost bilateral trade and investment. Delegations from chambers of commerce in both countries have exchanged visits, discussing ways to enhance imports and exports. He also noted that high-level interactions, including meetings between Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser in New York (September 2024, September 2025) and Cairo (December 2024), as well as telephonic conversations, have positively influenced bilateral ties.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar visited Dhaka on August 23–24, 2025, marking the first visit in over a decade. Other high-level visits included Bangladesh’s Adviser on Religious Affairs and Senior Secretary of Home Affairs in September 2025.
Dr. Tariq mentioned trade facilitation measures such as lifting the requirement for 100% physical inspection of Pakistani consignments at Bangladeshi ports and launching direct shipping between Karachi and Chittagong, reducing transit time from 23 to 10 days. The 9th session of the Joint Economic Commission is scheduled for October 27, 2025, in Dhaka to review economic cooperation.
Further people-to-people connectivity is being strengthened with streamlined business visa procedures for Pakistani investors, enhancing trade and tourism prospects between the two countries.
This resumption of flights marks a significant step in deepening economic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
