Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic, trade, and investment ties, aiming for a qualitative transformation in their bilateral relationship. The development came during a “warm and cordial” meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the One Water Summit in Riyadh.
The Crown Prince expressed his pleasure at meeting Shehbaz for the fifth time in the past six months, describing the interactions as a testament to the deep affection and genuine connection between the peoples of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He emphasized the importance of meaningful collaboration to stimulate economic growth and prosperity in Pakistan, underscoring the shared vision of a stronger partnership.
Both leaders reviewed the progress on the implementation of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed between the two nations, particularly in the areas of trade and investment. They expressed satisfaction with the pace of progress and reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating initiatives that would bring tangible benefits to both countries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Crown Prince for his unwavering support and affection for the people of Pakistan. He extended an invitation for the Crown Prince to visit Pakistan, to which Mohammed bin Salman responded positively, expressing enthusiasm for the visit.
Following the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif shared his thoughts on the engagement through his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He highlighted the significance of frequent high-level exchanges in fostering mutually beneficial cooperation. “Had the pleasure and honor of meeting my brother HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the One Water Summit in Riyadh. We reaffirmed our strong brotherly ties and discussed ways to further enhance our cooperation in trade and investment. Frequent high-level exchanges are paving the way for mutually beneficial economic cooperation between our two countries,” the post read.
