Pakistan braces for hot weather across most regions

ISLAMABAD, August 10, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and humid weather for most parts of Pakistan over the next 24 hours, with only a few areas expected to receive rain and thunderstorms.

The updated weather outlook was issued on Sunday, highlighting ongoing atmospheric patterns influencing the country’s climate.

Synoptic Situation

A seasonal low is present over north Balochistan, while moist currents from the Arabian Sea are moving into the upper parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a trough of westerly wave is affecting northern regions, increasing the potential for localized rainfall.

Sunday Forecast

Hot and very humid weather will dominate most regions. However, isolated rain, wind, and thundershowers are expected in northeastern Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas.

Monday Forecast

The hot and humid spell will continue across most of Pakistan, with scattered rain and thunderstorms in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, Kashmir, and adjoining highlands.

Past 24-Hour Weather Summary

Over the past day, hot and humid weather prevailed in most parts of the country. However, heavy rainfall was recorded in parts of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Bannu, and Islamabad, with Lahore’s Pani Wala Talab topping the list at 86 mm. The highest temperatures were observed in Nokkundi and Dalbandin at 44°C, followed closely by Chillas at 43°C and Bhakkar, Sibbi, Bunji, and Dadu at 42°C.
