Faisalabad, November 8, 2025 – Pakistan sealed a memorable victory over South Africa, winning the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series 2-1 at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Saturday. The triumph marks a strong start for Shaheen Afridi in his first ODI series as captain.

Pakistan’s bowlers delivered a commanding performance, dismissing South Africa for just 143 runs. Despite a promising 72-run opening stand between Quinton de Kock and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, the Proteas batting lineup collapsed under relentless spin pressure. Abrar Ahmed starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 27 runs, while Salman Agha, Mohammad Nawaz, and skipper Shaheen Afridi each took two wickets to complete the demolition.

In response, Saim Ayub anchored Pakistan’s chase with a composed half-century, supported by Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 32, guiding the hosts to a comfortable win and securing the series.

Shaheen Afridi credited the win to teamwork, praising his bowlers for adapting well to the conditions. He highlighted the spinners’ control and discipline throughout the series. South Africa’s captain, Matthew Breetzke, admitted Pakistan were “too good on the day,” noting that his team would take valuable lessons from the defeat.

Quinton de Kock was named Player of the Series, while Abrar Ahmed earned the Player of the Match award for his match-winning spell.

The victory gives Pakistan their first-ever home ODI series win against South Africa, setting a confident tone for the team under new leadership.
