Rawalpindi, November 29, 2025 – Pakistan clinched the T20I tri-series title on Saturday after securing a convincing six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The win marked a strong finish to Pakistan’s 2025 cricket calendar and highlighted their growing momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Sri Lanka, batting first, were bundled out for 114 runs in 19.1 overs, despite a steady start from Kamil Mishara and Kusal Mendis. Once Pakistan introduced their spinners, the innings collapsed rapidly, with Sri Lanka losing seven wickets for just 11 runs. Pakistani spinners dominated the contest, delivering 12 overs for six wickets while conceding only 52 runs.

Pakistan’s chase was not the most fluent, but the hosts reached 118/4 in 18.4 overs. Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan and Babar Azam provided key contributions, with Babar anchoring the innings to guide Pakistan home. Sri Lanka struggled to create pressure, as their pacers kept things tight but the spinners leaked crucial runs at the wrong moments.

Mohammad Nawaz emerged as the star performer, winning both Player of the Match for his figures of 3/17 and Player of the Series after claiming 10 wickets in five games. Nawaz credited his success to sticking to basics and adapting to conditions as a finger spinner.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha praised his team’s recent form, noting the importance of testing bench strength ahead of the T20 World Cup. Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka acknowledged Pakistan’s superior bowling and expressed optimism about his team’s learning curve.

With the tri-series concluded, both teams turn their attention to upcoming international assignments. Pakistan will tour Sri Lanka in early 2026 for another T20I series as part of their World Cup preparations, while major global cricket tournaments such as The Ashes and Tests between New Zealand and West Indies will continue to keep fans engaged.
