Rawalpindi, November 16, 2025 – Pakistan wrapped up a dominant performance in the ODI series by defeating Sri Lanka in the third and final match on Sunday, securing a comprehensive 3-0 clean sweep.
Sri Lanka, batting first, posted a modest total of 211 all out in 45.2 overs. Despite a steady start, the visitors struggled to build long partnerships. Contributions from Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama offered some resistance, but once Samarawickrama fell, Pakistan’s bowlers tightened their grip. Faisal Akram was instrumental in dismantling the middle order, while Pavan Rathnayake added valuable runs with the tail before Sri Lanka were bowled out for a below-par score.
Chasing 212, Pakistan reached the target comfortably in 44.4 overs, losing just four wickets. Fakhar Zaman provided a strong platform with an aggressive start, combining with Babar Azam in a crucial partnership that put Pakistan in control. Although Sri Lanka made brief inroads after dismissing Azam and Salman Agha, experienced campaigners Mohammad Rizwan and Hussain Talat stitched together a steady, match-winning stand.
The pitch offered considerable assistance to spinners, and Sri Lanka’s Jeffrey Vandersay and Maheesh Theekshana extracted notable turn. However, with dew settling in and a low total to defend, the visitors struggled to maintain pressure as Pakistan paced their innings smartly to seal the victory with more than five overs remaining.
Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, solid partnerships, and composed chase ensured a convincing series sweep, showcasing their growing confidence in the ODI format.
