Pakistan confirm Sri Lanka tour as key preparation for T20 World Cup 2026

PCB

Lahore, December 2, 2025 – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed that the national men’s cricket team will tour Sri Lanka in January 2026 for a three-match T20I series, forming a crucial part of their preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

According to the PCB, all three T20Is will take place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (RDICS) on January 7, 9 and 11. The series is expected to provide Pakistan with valuable match practice just weeks before the global tournament kicks off.

Pakistan have been placed in Group A for the World Cup and will play all group-stage matches in Colombo. The mega event, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is scheduled from February 7 to March 8, 2026.

The announcement comes shortly after Pakistan wrapped up a highly successful 2025 home season, securing series victories against both South Africa and Sri Lanka. Pakistan defeated South Africa 2-1 in both T20I and ODI series in October. They then dominated Sri Lanka with a clean sweep in a three-match ODI series, followed by a strong showing in the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, which Pakistan won on Saturday.

Throughout the packed season, Pakistan’s performance remained consistent and dominant, losing only three matches — two T20Is and one ODI — while winning all four series they contested.

With the home season now complete, the national side will enjoy a month-long break before resuming international duties. Following the Sri Lanka tour, Pakistan are also expected to host Australia for a T20I series ahead of the T20 World Cup.
