Pakistan Telecom Authority

Lahore, Pakistan – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Rawalpindi and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing successfully raided a location in Gulshan Ali Colony, Lahore Cantt, seizing illegally sold pre-activated foreign SIM cards. The operation led to the recovery of 68 UK SIMs and the arrest of a key suspect.

Authorities revealed that the suspect was allegedly acquiring foreign SIMs in bulk from suppliers operating in Lahore, Karachi, and DG Khan. These pre-activated SIMs pose a significant security risk as they can be used for fraudulent activities, untraceable communication, and other illegal operations.

Following the raid, the FIA has launched an in-depth investigation to uncover the complete supply chain behind the illegal SIM trade. Officials aim to dismantle the network responsible for smuggling and distributing these SIM cards across Pakistan.

The PTA has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the sale of unauthorized SIMs and ensuring digital security across the country. The agency has urged citizens to report suspicious SIM card sales to relevant authorities, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in preventing cybercrime and telecom fraud.

This raid highlights Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to combat the misuse of telecommunication services and safeguard national security. As the investigation unfolds, more arrests and crackdowns on illegal SIM networks are expected in the coming weeks.

This successful raid underscores Pakistan’s commitment to combating cybercrime and illegal telecom activities. With the FIA intensifying its investigation, authorities aim to dismantle the entire network behind the illicit sale of foreign SIM cards.

The PTA continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious SIM-related activities to help create a safer digital ecosystem. As enforcement efforts strengthen, such crackdowns will play a crucial role in enhancing national security and preventing telecom fraud.
