Crude oil imports reach $516.90 million despite a 37.36% monthly decline, while petroleum products and LNG imports fall year-on-year.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s crude oil imports surged 29.81 percent year-on-year (YoY) in dollar terms in July 2026, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

In July 2025, crude oil imports stood at 758,396 tonnes, valued at $398.18 million.
The latest data shows that the value of crude oil imports increased 29.81 percent YoY, while the quantity imported rose by 17.97 percent.
Crude oil imports fall 37% month-on-month
Despite the strong annual growth, crude oil imports declined sharply on a month-on-month (MoM) basis in July 2026.
Imports fell to $516.90 million from $825.21 million in June 2026, representing a decline of 37.36 percent.
The quantity of crude oil imported also decreased by 10.71 percent, from 1.002 million tonnes in June to 894,713 tonnes in July.
In rupee terms, crude oil imports amounted to Rs143.92 billion in July, compared with Rs230.08 billion in June and Rs113.17 billion in July 2025.
The figures indicate that, despite the substantial annual increase, crude oil imports moderated significantly at the start of FY2026-27 compared with the previous month.
Petroleum group imports decline
Overall imports under the petroleum group stood at $1.277 billion in July 2026, compared with $1.910 billion in June, showing a 33.14 percent MoM decline.
Compared with July 2025, petroleum group imports declined by 5.19 percent.
Petroleum products accounted for a significant share of the group’s imports. Imports of petroleum products fell to $491.49 million in July, from $774.18 million in June and $635.05 million in July 2025.
On a YoY basis, petroleum product imports declined by 22.61 percent in dollar terms.
LNG imports fall 23.60% YoY
Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) amounted to $176.68 million in July 2026, down from $204.94 million in June and $231.26 million in July 2025.
LNG imports therefore declined 23.60 percent YoY and 13.79 percent MoM in dollar terms.
The decline in LNG imports contrasts with the strong annual increase recorded in crude oil imports during the month.
LPG imports increase
Meanwhile, imports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rose to $91.66 million in July, compared with $82.05 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.
LPG imports increased 11.71 percent YoY, although they declined by 12.77 percent compared with June.
The latest PBS data indicates a mixed trend in Pakistan’s petroleum imports, with crude oil imports showing strong annual growth despite a sharp monthly decline, while petroleum products and LNG recorded annual contractions in July 2026.
