Islamabad, December 19, 2025 — Pakistan Customs, in collaboration with Pakistan Rangers, carried out a major anti-smuggling operation at Sohrab Goth in Karachi on Friday, confiscating foreign-origin smuggled goods valued at millions of rupees.
The intelligence-based operation was conducted by the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, at Al-Asif area of Sohrab Goth as part of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) ongoing drive to curb illegal trade and protect the national exchequer. The joint action resulted in the recovery of three Mazda truckloads filled with smuggled consumer goods.
According to officials, the seized consignments largely comprised smuggled cigarettes, gutka, sheesha flavor, and niswar, along with a wide range of Irani food items, cosmetics, toiletries, dairy products, beverages, syrups, and edible oils. Authorities reported the recovery of 4,859 sticks of smuggled cigarettes, 258 sticks of sheesha flavor, 2,375 packets of gutka, and 57 packets of niswar, in addition to large quantities of foreign-brand personal care and food products.
The provisional market value of the confiscated goods has been estimated at around PKR 20 million, highlighting the scale of the smuggling activity.
All seized items have been taken into official custody, while legal proceedings are being initiated under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend individuals and networks involved in the illegal trade.
The FBR reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening enforcement through enhanced intelligence sharing and inter-agency coordination to combat smuggling and safeguard Pakistan’s economy.
