Karachi, December 13, 2025 — Pakistan Customs, in coordination with the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), has thwarted a major smuggling operation near Gadani, Balochistan, resulting in the confiscation of contraband valued at approximately $132 million, equivalent to around Rs37 billion in the international market.

The successful intelligence-based counter-narcotics operation led to the seizure of 500 kilograms of Methamphetamine (ICE) along with 3,500 bottles of foreign liquor. According to officials, the foreign liquor was being illegally smuggled into Pakistan through international maritime routes, while the narcotics consignment was destined for an overseas market, highlighting the transnational nature of the smuggling network.

Authorities said the operation was carried out after receiving precise and actionable intelligence, enabling the joint task force to intercept the illicit cargo during coordinated maritime surveillance and enforcement activities. The timely action prevented the contraband from entering both domestic and international supply chains.

Following the interception, the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Gadani formally took custody of the seized narcotics and liquor during an official handover ceremony held at the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Headquarters in Karachi. The transfer was completed in accordance with established legal and procedural requirements.

The operation was conducted under the coordination framework of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Center (JMICC), demonstrating strengthened inter-agency collaboration, effective intelligence sharing, and rapid operational response.

Officials stated that the successful seizure reflects the heightened vigilance and professionalism of Pakistan’s maritime and enforcement agencies. It also underscores the firm commitment of the Pakistan Navy, PMSA, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime domain and preventing its misuse for smuggling, drug trafficking, and other illegal activities.
