Karachi, December 26, 2025 — The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Pakistan Customs Enforcement, Karachi, has successfully intercepted a large consignment of smuggled mobile phones valued at approximately Rs62 million during an intelligence-driven operation conducted on Thursday morning.
According to an official statement, the operation targeted a Mazda truck suspected of transporting smuggled mobile phones from Balochistan to Karachi. Acting on credible intelligence, ASO teams deployed plainclothes squads at strategic checkpoints to intercept the vehicle.
The Mazda truck, registration number NAF-859, was stopped at the Hamdard Checkpost and later transferred to the Customs’ CPF Warehouse for thorough inspection. During the search, authorities recovered a total of 803 mobile phones of various brands, including iPhone, Vivo, Google Pixel, Infinix, and Spark. The devices were hidden inside a specially concealed compartment within the truck.
The combined value of the seized mobile phones and the vehicle is estimated at Rs87 million, with the truck itself valued at Rs25 million. The driver and helper of the vehicle have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings are underway, including the registration of an FIR under relevant laws.
This successful interception highlights the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) ongoing commitment to curbing smuggling and combating illicit trade across Pakistan. Authorities emphasized that such operations are part of continuous efforts to safeguard the economy, protect lawful businesses, and prevent revenue loss due to illegal imports.
The FBR urged the public and stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements of contraband goods to assist in anti-smuggling operations nationwide.
