Pakistan eye T20I series whitewash against struggling Bangladesh

Pakistan World Cup

Pakistan will be looking to seal a clean sweep as they take on Bangladesh in the third and final T20I of the series at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium on June 1, 2025.

Already leading the three-match T20I series 2-0, Pakistan will be eager to complete a 3-0 whitewash and end Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan on a dominant note.

The home side has outclassed Bangladesh in all departments in the previous two games. In the first T20I, Pakistan put up an imposing total of 201/7 before restricting Bangladesh to 164, winning by 37 runs. The second match followed a similar script, with Pakistan again posting 201 — this time for six wickets — and bowling out Bangladesh for 144 to claim a comprehensive 57-run win.

Led by Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan’s revamped T20I side has showcased depth and potential, even in the absence of senior players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi, who have been rested for this series. Young guns such as Sahibzada Farhan, who blazed his way to 74 in the second T20I, and Mohammad Haris, known for his aggressive middle-order contributions, have stepped up impressively. The likes of Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz have also added crucial runs to Pakistan’s totals.

Pakistan’s bowling attack has remained sharp, with Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali leading the pace battery and spinners Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan maintaining control in the middle overs. Fakhar Zaman, who missed the second match due to fitness concerns, could return to bolster the lineup further.

For Bangladesh, the series has been a bitter test. Their batting lineup, despite flashes of individual brilliance, has failed to form meaningful partnerships or chase down big targets against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling. Captain Litton Das, along with key players like Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tawhid Hridoy, will need to deliver if Bangladesh are to avoid a complete sweep.

Historically, Pakistan has dominated Bangladesh in T20Is, winning 17 of 20 matches. In Lahore, they remain unbeaten in three T20Is against Bangladesh. With momentum on their side and home conditions in their favor, Pakistan are strong favorites to finish the T20I series with a 3-0 triumph.
