Karachi, December 12, 2025 – Precious metal prices in Pakistan witnessed a dramatic surge on Friday, as gold soared by Rs10,700 per tola, marking the highest single-day increase in the country’s history, while silver also climbed to an all-time high.

According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association, the price of 24-karat gold per tola jumped to Rs454,262 from the previous day’s close of Rs443,562. This comes close to the record gold price of Rs456,900 per tola recorded on October 17, 2025. Similarly, the gold rate for 24-karat per 10 grams rose by Rs9,174 to Rs389,456, compared to the prior day’s Rs380,282.

Silver prices also reached new heights, hitting Rs6,684 per tola, an increase of Rs232 from the previous day’s closing of Rs6,452. Experts in the bullion market attributed the sharp rise in gold and silver prices to increased demand in international markets and ongoing volatility in global commodities.

Global factors such as geopolitical tensions, trade disputes, and market uncertainties have significantly influenced precious metal prices worldwide. On the international front, gold per ounce increased by $107 to $4,319 from $4,212, while silver rose by $2.32 to $64.12 per ounce from the previous close of $61.80.

Market analysts suggest that investors continue to turn to gold and silver as safe-haven assets amid economic and political instability, which is likely to maintain upward pressure on local prices in the near term.
