Islamabad, February 16, 2026 – The government of Pakistan has announced an increase in petrol and diesel prices for the second half of February 2026, just ahead of the holy month of Ramazan.
Starting February 16, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs5 per litre, from Rs253.17 to Rs258.17, while high-speed diesel has increased by Rs7.32 per litre, from Rs268.38 to Rs275.70, according to a notification from the Petroleum Division.
This marks the second fuel price adjustment this month. In the previous fortnight, the government had increased high-speed diesel by Rs11.30 per litre, leaving petrol rates unchanged.
Petrol is primarily used by commuters in smaller vehicles, rickshaws, and two-wheelers. The price hike is expected to affect middle and lower-middle class households, who rely on petrol for daily travel.
High-speed diesel, widely used in trucks, buses, trains, and agricultural machinery such as tractors and tube wells, has a direct inflationary impact. The increase in diesel prices is likely to raise the cost of vegetables, food items, and goods transportation, adding pressure on household budgets during Ramazan.
Officials have stated that the revised rates will remain in effect for the next fortnight and will be closely monitored for any further adjustments.
The prices have been increased just ahead of the holy month of Ramazan, which is likely to start from February 18 or 19, subject to the appearance of moon.
