Pakistan Hockey Federation Unveils National Hockey Calendar for 2026-27 Season

Six major national tournaments scheduled in Islamabad as PHF intensifies efforts to revive hockey and develop emerging talent across Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially unveiled its domestic hockey calendar for the 2026-27 season, outlining six major national competitions that will take place in Islamabad over the next year.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the country’s hockey structure and identifying promising talent from the grassroots level.

According to the federation, all provincial sports departments, educational institutions, universities, district sports authorities, and affiliated hockey associations have been instructed to begin preparations immediately to ensure successful participation in the upcoming events.

Focus on Grassroots Development

The PHF stated that the new domestic season has been designed to create a structured pathway for players across various age groups and categories, including boys, girls, juniors, women, and senior athletes.

The federation emphasized that school-level, district-level, and provincial competitions will play a key role in identifying and nurturing future hockey stars.

Officials believe that a strong domestic setup is essential for restoring Pakistan’s competitiveness on the international stage.

Through regular national tournaments and talent development programs, the federation aims to build a sustainable pipeline of skilled players for future national teams.

National Hockey Calendar 2026-27

The domestic season will feature the following major championships:

National Women’s Hockey Championship: July 2-11, 2026

National Under-15 Boys & Girls Hockey Championship: November 12-22, 2026

National Under-21 Hockey Championship: January 2-12, 2027

Naval Cup (Senior Men): March 16-26, 2027

Chief of Army Staff Hockey Championship: April 5-15, 2027

National Bank Gold Cup: April 25-May 5, 2027

Institutions Asked to Accelerate Preparations

The federation has urged schools, colleges, universities, and district and provincial hockey associations to launch player registration campaigns, talent hunt initiatives, coaching camps, and inter-school and inter-district tournaments well ahead of the national events.

PHF officials stressed that the revival of hockey in Pakistan requires active cooperation from educational institutions and provincial sports authorities.

The federation also advised provincial bodies to work closely with schools and colleges to facilitate participation, particularly in youth and women’s competitions.

The PHF Competition Department is expected to release detailed tournament regulations and player eligibility criteria for all championships in the coming weeks.
