Kuala Lumpur, October 6, 2025 – Pakistan and Malaysia on Monday took a major step toward expanding bilateral relations by signing six key accords aimed at enhancing cooperation in diverse sectors, including education, tourism, Halal certification, anti-corruption efforts, and the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The official documents were exchanged at a ceremony held at the Perdana Putra Complex, the Office of the Malaysian Prime Minister, during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s three-day visit to Malaysia at the invitation of his counterpart, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Both leaders also held detailed delegation-level talks before witnessing the signing ceremony.
One of the significant agreements was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on diplomatic training between Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy and Malaysia’s Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), signed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Malaysian Foreign Minister Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan.
Another MoU focused on higher education, signed between the governments of both countries, with Malaysia’s Higher Education Minister Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir representing his side. The two nations also inked a tourism cooperation agreement, exchanged by Malaysia’s Tourism Minister Tiong King Sing and Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, to promote cultural exchange and travel opportunities.
A landmark MoU on Halal certification was signed to strengthen Pakistan’s export credentials in the global Halal market, with Malaysia’s Minister for Religious Affairs Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im Bin Haji Mokhtar and Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan exchanging the documents.
In addition, both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in combating corruption, with documents exchanged between the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s Chief Commissioner Azam Bin Baki and NAB’s Deputy Chairman Sohail Nasir.
The final MoU focused on SME development, exchanged between SME Corporation Malaysia CEO Rizal bin Dato’ Nainy and Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to economic innovation and mutual growth.
These accords mark a renewed phase in Pakistan–Malaysia cooperation, paving the way for a stronger and more strategic partnership.
