Pakistan Name 15-Player Squad for Sri Lanka T20I Series

PCB

Lahore, December 28, 2025 – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to be played next month in Colombo.

The squad sees the return of experienced all-rounder Shadab Khan, who makes his comeback to the T20I setup after recovering from a shoulder injury. The 27-year-old underwent surgery earlier this year and completed a successful rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy. He is currently gaining match fitness while featuring in Australia’s Big Bash League.

Salman Ali Agha will continue to lead the side after an impressive year in the shortest format. The middle-order batter featured in a record 34 T20I matches in 2025, the most by any Pakistan player in a single calendar year, earning the selectors’ confidence to captain the team once again.

Another notable inclusion is Khawaja Nafay, an uncapped wicketkeeper-batter who has been rewarded for his consistent performances at the domestic level and with the Pakistan Shaheens. The 23-year-old has played 32 T20 matches, scoring runs at a healthy strike rate of 132.81, and is seen as a promising prospect for the future.

Pakistan is set to depart for Sri Lanka in the first week of January. All three T20Is will be staged at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium on January 7, 9, and 11.

The series holds added significance as it will help Pakistan finalize combinations ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will play all their World Cup matches in Colombo, making the Sri Lanka tour a crucial preparatory assignment.
