Pakistan Outclass Australia to Level ODI Series

Pakistan World Cup

Pakistan showcased a masterclass in both bowling and batting to secure a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Australia in the second One-Day International (ODI), leveling the three-match series.

This commanding win revives Pakistan’s chances of clinching the series, backed by stellar performances from the bowling and batting departments.

The bowling attack, led by Pakistan’s pace spearhead Haris Rauf, dismantled Australia, who were bowled out for just 163 runs. Rauf’s fiery pace and precision saw him claim five wickets for only 29 runs in his eight-over spell, making him the game’s standout performer. His economical bowling, with a rate of 3.62 runs per over, left Australia struggling to put up a competitive score.

Pakistan’s bowlers dominated from the outset after opting to bowl first. Shaheen Afridi provided excellent support to Rauf, capturing three vital wickets in his spell, which yielded just 26 runs from eight overs.

Afridi’s skillful movement and accuracy kept Australia on the back foot, as he exploited weaknesses in the batting lineup. Contributions from Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain, each claiming a wicket, ensured Australia couldn’t recover any momentum, culminating in their dismissal within 35 overs.

Australia’s batting lineup faltered against the relentless Pakistani pace attack, with only a handful of batters managing to score in double digits.

Veteran batter Steven Smith was the top scorer, putting up a valiant 48 runs off 35 balls in an effort to stabilize the innings. Aaron Hardie added 29 runs, while Adam Zampa chipped in with 21, but their contributions were ultimately insufficient against Pakistan’s relentless bowling.

In response, Pakistan chased down the target of 164 runs in just 27 overs, losing only one wicket along the way. Young opener Saim Ayub led the charge, smashing a brilliant 82 runs.

His innings showcased a mixture of confidence and technical prowess, leaving the Australian bowlers with no answers. Abdullah Shafique provided strong support, remaining unbeaten with 64 runs, guiding Pakistan to a comfortable win with ample overs to spare.

This dominant performance by Pakistan not only leveled the series but also sent a strong message to Australia ahead of the decisive third ODI. With both bat and ball performing in harmony, Pakistan will be keen to capitalize on this momentum and aim for a series victory.
