Pakistan cuts petrol price by Rs2.71, raises diesel by 31 paisas

Petrol falls to Rs379.31 per litre from October 22, 2026, while high-speed diesel rises to Rs390.11 amid changing international oil benchmarks.

ISLAMABAD, October 21, 2026: The government of Pakistan has reduced the petrol price by Rs2.71 per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by 31 paisas for October 22, 2026.

According to the latest petroleum pricing data, the price of petrol, excluding secondary freight, has declined from Rs382.02 per litre on October 21 to Rs379.31 per litre effective October 22.

The reduction reflects lower Platts Arab Gulf average prices and a decrease in cost and freight values at the ports of origin.

In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel has increased from Rs389.80 to Rs390.11 per litre. The adjustment follows changes in Dubai crude oil averages and related ex-refinery import costs.

The latest review maintains the petroleum levy at Rs80 per litre for both petrol and diesel. The Climate Support Levy also remains unchanged at Rs5 per litre, while sales tax continues to be exempted, according to the supplied pricing data.

The contrasting adjustments are likely to have different implications for consumers and businesses. Lower petrol prices offer some relief to motorists, while the increase in diesel costs may add to operating expenses for goods transporters, agriculture and other diesel-dependent sectors.

International oil prices and associated import costs remain key factors in Pakistan’s petroleum pricing mechanism, with rolling averages influencing subsequent price adjustments.
