Pakistan petrol price rises to Rs377.91, diesel hits Rs399.82

Petrol rises to Rs377.91 per litre and high-speed diesel to Rs399.82 from October 29, as global oil market volatility continues to influence domestic fuel prices.

Islamabad, October 28, 2026: The federal government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices by Rs1.85 and Rs1.75 per litre, respectively, effective October 29, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, petrol will be available at Rs377.91 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been fixed at Rs399.82 per litre.

The latest adjustment follows a reduction of Rs3.19 per litre in petrol prices and an increase of Rs2.25 per litre in HSD prices for October 28.

On July 17, the government introduced a daily petroleum pricing mechanism, replacing the previous weekly system. The move came amid renewed tensions between the United States and Iran and volatility in international oil markets.

To protect lower-income consumers, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a relief scheme offering a subsidy of Rs100 per litre for motorcycles, three-wheelers and cars with engines of up to 800cc. The scheme was expected to cover around 11.8 million beneficiaries, with monthly relief of up to Rs2,000 for two-wheelers and three-wheelers and Rs3,000 for eligible small-car users.

The government also reintroduced austerity and fuel conservation measures in September, including restrictions on business operating hours. Shops and markets were directed to close by 9pm, while marriage halls were required to close by 10pm.

Pakistan remains vulnerable to international oil price fluctuations because it imports most of its petroleum requirements. Developments involving OPEC+, Middle East conflicts, sanctions and disruptions to shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea can increase crude oil and freight costs, putting further pressure on domestic fuel prices.
