Petrol remains unchanged at Rs377.71 per litre, while high-speed diesel rises to Rs393.66 until October 26 under the government’s daily fuel pricing mechanism.
The federal government on Friday increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.91 per litre while keeping petrol prices unchanged until October 26.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, petrol will continue to be sold at Rs377.71 per litre, while high-speed diesel will cost Rs393.66 per litre from October 24 to October 26.
The latest adjustment follows a revision announced a day earlier, when the government reduced petrol prices by Rs1.60 per litre and increased the HSD rate by Rs1.64 per litre for October 23.
On July 17, the government introduced a daily petroleum pricing mechanism, replacing the previous weekly system amid volatility in international oil markets and concerns over fuel supplies linked to renewed tensions between the United States and Iran.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a fuel relief scheme on September 13, offering a subsidy of Rs100 per litre for motorcycles, three-wheeled rickshaws and cars with engines of up to 800cc.
The proposed scheme was expected to cover 11.8 million beneficiaries. Motorcycle and rickshaw users would receive relief on up to 20 litres per month, providing a maximum benefit of Rs2,000, while eligible small-car owners would receive relief on 30 litres, worth up to Rs3,000 monthly.
The government also reintroduced austerity and fuel conservation measures on September 17. Shops and markets were directed to close by 9pm, marriage halls by 10pm and restaurants by 11pm, while takeaway and home delivery services remained exempt.
The latest diesel increase adds to fuel costs for transport and businesses, while petrol prices remain unchanged for the specified period.
