Pakistan receives $3.21 billion in remittances for July 2025

Karachi, August 8, 2025 – Pakistan recorded an inflow of $3.21 billion in workers’ remittances during July 2025, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday.

The central bank reported that remittances in July 2025 rose by 7.4% year-on-year (YoY) compared to $3 billion in July 2024. However, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, inflows fell by 5.64% from the $3.41 billion recorded in June 2025.

The SBP highlighted that the bulk of remittance inflows originated from key labour-export destinations. Saudi Arabia led with $823.7 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates at $665.2 million, the United Kingdom with $450.4 million, and the United States at $269.6 million. These countries remain critical contributors to Pakistan’s remittance earnings, reflecting the strong presence of Pakistani expatriate communities abroad.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, Pakistan achieved a historic milestone by receiving a record $38.3 billion in workers’ remittances. This represents a substantial 26.6% surge compared to $30.3 billion in the previous fiscal year.

Remittances are one of the largest and most reliable sources of foreign exchange for Pakistan. With millions of Pakistanis employed in the Middle East, Europe, and North America, these funds play a vital role in supporting household incomes, financing imports, stabilizing the rupee, and narrowing the current account deficit.

Economists note that maintaining steady growth in remittances is essential for Pakistan’s economic resilience, especially amid global uncertainties and fluctuating trade revenues.
