Daily fuel price revision mechanism pushes petrol and diesel rates sharply higher across Pakistan in July 2026.
Pakistan witnessed a significant rise in petroleum prices during the first 24 days of July 2026, with both petrol and high-speed diesel registering sharp increases following the implementation of a daily fuel price adjustment mechanism.
According to the latest official rates, petrol prices increased by Rs35.68 per litre between June 30, 2026, and July 25, 2026.
The price of petrol stood at Rs299.50 per litre on June 30, but climbed to Rs335.18 per litre by July 25, reflecting the impact of rising international oil prices and changes in the domestic pricing structure.
High-speed diesel (HSD) recorded an even steeper increase during the same period. The diesel price rose from Rs311.47 per litre on June 30 to Rs383.46 per litre on July 25, showing a cumulative increase of Rs71.99 per litre.
The substantial hike has raised concerns among transporters, industrial users, and consumers, as diesel is a key fuel for freight transportation and agricultural activities.
Petroleum Prices Comparison
| Fuel Type | June 30, 2026 (Rs/Litre) | July 25, 2026 (Rs/Litre) | Increase (Rs/Litre) |
| Petrol | 299.50 | 335.18 | 35.68 |
| High-Speed Diesel | 311.47 | 383.46 | 71.99 |
The federal government introduced a daily petroleum price review system on July 21, 2026, replacing the previous mechanism under which fuel prices were revised periodically.
The move was aimed at aligning domestic fuel prices more closely with fluctuations in international oil markets and exchange rate movements.
Since the introduction of the daily pricing formula, petroleum rates have continued to move upward. Between July 21 and July 25 alone, petrol prices increased by Rs19.38 per litre, while high-speed diesel prices surged by Rs29.11 per litre.
The rapid rise in fuel costs has added pressure on transportation expenses and could contribute to higher inflation in the coming weeks.
Market analysts believe that future fuel price movements will largely depend on global crude oil trends, shipping costs, and the Pakistani rupee’s performance against major international currencies. With daily revisions now in effect, consumers and businesses are expected to monitor petroleum price changes more closely than ever before.
