Pakistan Set to Celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on March 31, 2025

Islamabad, March 30, 2025 – Pakistan is set to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, March 31, as the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced the sighting of the Shawwal moon on Sunday.

The much-awaited declaration was made following a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Islamabad, with zonal and district committees convening simultaneously at their respective headquarters.

The meeting was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad and attended by members of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Suparco, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. After extensive deliberations and verification of testimonies from various parts of the country, the committee confirmed that Eid-ul-Fitr would be observed on Monday.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Maulana Azad stated that credible moon-sighting testimonies had been received from multiple locations, including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Islamabad, Sheikhupura, and Kasur. He explained that clear weather conditions in most regions made it easier to sight the crescent, reinforcing the decision to officially declare the commencement of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The announcement was met with widespread joy and celebrations across Pakistan, as families and communities gear up for the festivities.
