National side completes intensive preparations as ICC World Test Championship campaign resumes with two Tests in the Caribbean.
Pakistan’s national Test cricket team has departed for the West Indies to participate in an important two-match Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
The squad left from Islamabad International Airport and will travel to the Caribbean via Doha and London before beginning its preparations for the upcoming red-ball assignments.
Ahead of the tour, the Pakistan team underwent an intensive training camp at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Players focused on strengthening their skills and match readiness through rigorous practice sessions designed to prepare them for the challenges of Caribbean conditions.
The preparations also included a two-day scenario-based practice match, allowing players to simulate competitive situations and fine-tune their strategies before the series.
The team is scheduled to play a four-day practice match from July 18 to July 21. The warm-up fixture is expected to provide valuable match practice and help the players adapt to local pitches and weather conditions before the official Test series begins. Team management will closely monitor performances during the match as they finalize combinations for the two Tests.
Pakistan’s upcoming Test series against the West Indies will be played under the ICC World Test Championship framework.
The first Test is set to begin on July 25 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago, while the second Test will be played at the historic Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. The two-match contest will run until August 10 and carries significant importance for both teams in the WTC standings.
The Caribbean tour represents another crucial step in Pakistan’s long-term Test plans as the team seeks to improve its ranking and build momentum in the championship cycle. Strong performances from senior players and emerging talents will be vital as Pakistan aims to secure valuable WTC points away from home.
Following the completion of the West Indies series, Pakistan will shift its focus to another major assignment, with a three-Test series against England scheduled to commence on August 19. The back-to-back red-ball contests are expected to play a key role in shaping Pakistan’s World Test Championship campaign.
