ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s textile exports recorded a strong 42.97 per cent month-on-month (MoM) increase in July 2026, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The PBS statement showing exports of selected commodities for July 2026 showed that the textile group recorded the largest increase in export value, rising 42.97 per cent compared with June 2026.
Textile exports also increased 43.13 per cent year-on-year (YoY) compared with July 2025, indicating a significant improvement in the sector’s export performance at the beginning of fiscal year 2026-27.
The latest figures point to a strong start for Pakistan’s textile exports, which remain a key source of foreign exchange earnings for the country.
Ready-made garments lead textile export growth
Among major textile products, exports of ready-made garments increased 23.20 per cent in value in July 2026 compared with June 2026. Exports were also 15 per cent higher than in July 2025.
The quantity of ready-made garments exported rose to 8.82 million dozen in July, compared with 6.08 million dozen in June.
The increase highlights continued demand for Pakistan’s value-added apparel products in international markets.
Knitwear exports rise
Exports of knitwear increased 3.59 per cent MoM in July 2026 and were up 1.79 per cent compared with the corresponding month of 2025.
The quantity of knitwear exports also increased during the month, reflecting continued demand for Pakistan’s value-added textile products.
Bedwear exports remain strong
Exports of bedwear increased 2.49 per cent MoM in July and were 1.89 per cent higher YoY.
The category remained one of the stronger-performing segments of Pakistan’s textile export basket.
Towels record significant increase
Exports of towels posted one of the strongest increases among major textile products, rising 15.64 per cent MoM in July 2026.
Towel exports were also 10.90 per cent higher YoY, according to PBS data.
Cotton yarn exports decline
In contrast, exports of cotton yarn declined 1.14 per cent MoM in July, although they remained 3.79 per cent higher YoY.
The data indicates a mixed performance across textile categories, with value-added products generally showing greater resilience than some intermediate textile products.
Other textile categories show mixed performance
Exports of tents, canvas and tarpaulin increased 10.54 per cent MoM and 6.96 per cent YoY in July.
Meanwhile, exports of art, silk and synthetic textiles declined 5.01 per cent compared with June and 10.22 per cent compared with July 2025.
Exports of other textile materials increased 19.32 per cent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
Textile sector starts FY2026-27 on stronger footing
The sharp monthly increase in textile exports in July provides an encouraging start to Pakistan’s export performance in FY2026-27.
The growth was supported by higher shipments of several key value-added products, including ready-made garments, towels, knitwear and bedwear.
However, the decline in some textile categories highlights continued variations in demand across different segments of the industry.
The performance of the textile sector in the coming months will remain important for Pakistan’s foreign exchange earnings and efforts to strengthen export growth
