Pakistan to Unveil National Marble Policy Soon: Haroon Akhtar

Islamabad, November 6, 2025 – The government is set to introduce a National Marble Policy aimed at overcoming long-standing challenges and driving sustainable industrial growth, announced Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, on Thursday.

Chairing a high-level meeting with representatives from the All Pakistan Marble Industry Association and the Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) in Islamabad, Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that the new policy will modernize the marble sector, enhance exports, and boost value addition.

He revealed that the marble sector will officially be declared an industry, noting that Pakistan’s marble is “of world-class quality” and holds immense potential to strengthen the national economy through export growth and brand development.

“The government is actively working with stakeholders to introduce policy-level reforms that will enhance competitiveness, productivity, and innovation in the marble sector,” Khan stated.

The SAPM underscored that stabilizing the industry would generate new employment opportunities and attract both local and foreign investment. He assured that the government would extend full support to investors and exporters to make Pakistan a global player in the marble trade.

Khan also called for enhanced training programs, technical assistance, and technology adoption to make the sector more efficient. He directed PASDEC and industry representatives to explore collaboration with Italy in technology transfer, capacity building, and export promotion.
