Shaheen Shah Afridi to captain Pakistan in ODI series against Australia as Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan return to squad
Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against Australia national cricket team, scheduled to begin on May 30 in Rawalpindi.
Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to captain the side, while Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim have been recalled after missing Pakistan’s ODI tour of Bangladesh in March.
Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas and Rohail Nazir are the three uncapped players included in the squad for the series.
The PCB said wicketkeeper-batters Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir were selected after Usman Khan was ruled out due to illness.
Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were not considered for selection as both players continue rehabilitation from injuries under the supervision of the PCB medical panel.
The Pakistan squad will assemble in Islamabad and begin training sessions under the coaching staff from May 23.
Australia’s squad is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 ahead of training sessions at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
