Karachi, March 26, 2025 – Hosts Pakistan have unveiled their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier, set to take place from April 9-19.
Led by pace all-rounder Fatima Sana, Pakistan will aim to secure one of the two remaining spots for the marquee tournament, which will be held later this year in India.
Pakistan will compete in the six-team qualifier alongside West Indies, Thailand, Scotland, Ireland, and Bangladesh. The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with each team playing against one another once. The top two teams will earn direct qualification to the 13th edition of the 50-over Cricket World Cup.
A notable omission from Pakistan’s squad is experienced all-rounder Nida Dar, who was part of the 19-player training camp ahead of the qualifiers but did not make the final selection. However, young batter Shawaal Zulfiqar makes her return to the national team after recovering from a shoulder injury that kept her out of action since 2023.
Fatima Sana, who previously captained Pakistan at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, will continue to lead the squad. She has been a key player for Pakistan in recent years, showing exceptional skill both with the ball and the bat. Her leadership will be crucial as Pakistan seeks to qualify for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
The competition will be intense, as all six participating nations vie for the coveted spots in the World Cup. Pakistan, playing on home soil, will look to capitalize on familiar conditions and strong local support to bolster their chances of advancing to the global tournament.
